i remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.
The real mystery is how people still believe there was a literal, global flood, given the overwhelming evidence that it didnt happen.
Science: form a theory, follow evidence,test it, invite others to criticise, modify understanding to form a sound conclusion.
Belief: form a conclusion first, look for any information that supports your belief, ignore everything else.

yesterdays wt study (wt january 2022) stressed the issue, to set aside time to deepen the relationship to god.. in order to strengthen one`s faith, it was encouraged to ask god anytime for basically anything.
and each time god answers your prayers the faith grows.. now, each one of us has wishes, desires, hopes.
some naturally will fail, some will come true.
Jws are tricked into believing they are the main focus of a great universal struggle. It makes them feel special.

Had a chat with a dub the other day and she was telling me all about how the GB knew beforehand that Russia was going to go to war. She has herself convinced this is it.
I mentioned that world war 2 was pretty bad and it didnt lead to armageddon and she informed me that armageddon couldnt occur until after the U.N. had been formed. Well, the U.N. was formed in 1945 but I guess thats a debate for another day.
I get the feeling that the rank and file dubs are excited about whats happening right now. They always have to make it more than what it is and won't accept that its just another event in a long string of events that will never stop while humans exist. War, pandemics, poverty, crime, the list goes on.
I know the war in Ukraine could escalate into something more dangerous and will most likely have repercussions for decades, but if it dies down, after a few years, will the dubs remember how certain they were it was the end?
i’d like to marry my best friend of 30+ years, turned ‘secret’ girlfriend of 1 ½ years who is a jehovah’s witness, born into it, baptized and an active ‘pioneer’.
our marriage would happen prior to letting any of her jw friends and cohorts know that we are together.
once married she may simply come forward and ‘admit’ or we may wait until it’s found out – one way or the other, the reason for this marriage is not customary – i am hoping that by doing so she can avoid being ‘marked’ or possibly ‘disfellowshipped’ once our relationship is no longer a secret and due to our already being married at that point, there can be no notion from society elders about her ending the relationship.
If the elders find out you have been living at her place before you were married and you were both alone, I doubt she will be allowed to remain a pioneer at the very least. More likely she will be reproved, maybe disfellowshipped depending on the circumstances of your living arrangements prior to marriage.
An active pioneer secretly marrying a worldly guy would almost be an embarrassment to the local cong. and they may want to set an example for others.
Thats short term. If she keeps going to meetings and shows everyone that you married for love, eventually she will probably be able to pioneer again.
so i pioneered for 10 years in the 1990's it was 90 hours a month with alot of country driving.
i was shocked when brothers and sisters with full time jobs would park their brand new cars and go witnessing in my 20 year old orange datsun.
i was barely living on $250 a week as a yeah...window cleaner.
Elders with businesses, families, investment properties, expensive cars and lots of kids, who then give talks about 'putting the kingdom first' and 'how bad this world is' have always made me sick.

Pretty much everything is back to normal here in Australia- capacity crowds at events, churches open, no density limits and masks no longer mandatory. There are some local covid rules in certain areas and situations but overall its almost business as usual.
There are no health directives stopping meetings from resuming, so why haven't they started yet?
I can understand preaching not starting for a while because quite a few people in the community won't be happy with unannounced strangers invading their space while there is a risk of infection, in fact, It could be a long time before door to door preaching starts again.
